BP Invests In Renewables With Big Solar Purchase

BP reached an agreement to purchase 9 gigawatts (GW) of solar development projects in the U.S. from independent solar developer 7X Energy. The acquisition represents a significant step towards BP’s target of growing its net developed renewable generating capacity to 20GW by 2025 and aim to bump up to 50GW by 2030.

 

Canada Invests $960M In Renewable Energy And Grid Modernization Projects

The Government of Canada announced the launch of a $964-million program to support smart renewable energy and grid modernization projects that will lower emissions by investing in clean energy technologies, like wind, solar, storage, hydro, geothermal and tidal.

Brazil’s Elera To Invest $790 Million In Renewables

Elera Renováveis plans to invest almost 4bn reais (US$790mn) in Brazilian hydro, solar and wind power projects in 2021-22, a spokesperson for the company told BNamericas.  The biggest part of the investments will go to the Janaúba PV solar complex, which saw construction start in January with works scheduled to finish by 2023. 


MPC Energy Solutions Invests In Energy Efficiency Through Cogeneration In Puerto Rico

MPC Energy Solutions N.V. has signed the acquisition of a 3.4 MW Combined Heat and Power (CHP) project in Puerto Rico. The project will sell the produced heat and power under a 12-year USD-denominated energy service agreement to a pharmaceutical company.


Elecnor Secures EPC Contract For 359 MWp Solar Plant In Brazil

Spanish infrastructure builder and concessionaire group Elecnor SA announced today it has won a contract to build a 359.12-MWp solar farm in Brazil. The job was awarded to Elecnor by Latin America-focused Atlas Renewable Energy.

European Energy and UK-Based Firma Unveil 200MW UK Solar Pipeline

European Energy and UK-based renewables outfit Firma have revealed they are developing a portfolio of solar projects, upwards of 200MW, in the UK. The partners are working on 30 separate deals with farmers to build solar farms and grid-connected battery storage systems across the country.


Cyrusone’s European Data Center Portfolio Now 100 Percent Powered By Renewable Energy

The data center real estate investment trust’s sites in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Dublin are now all operating on a renewable tariff. The company says this means all those sites are powered by renewable energy supported by local suppliers.

Kuwait’s MEW Plans Eight Power Plants To Produce 17,300 MW Of Electricity
